1.) What is GNU Chess
GNU Chess is a chess program, developed by a large group of people over
years. It has always been open for new ideas and contributions. In the
meantime it gt sufficiently strong, especially on fast machines.
GNU Chess doesn't offer a fancy display. The philosophy of GNU Chess is
to separate chess program and frontend, the chess program being portable
as most as possible. All that's offered by GNU Chess is a Curses version.
2.) Requirements
- An Amiga (obviously :-), running OS 2.04 or later, 2Mb RAM or more
- A Frontend, for example AmyBoard; should be found at the same place
as GNU Chess
- Installer, available from Aminet, util/misc
3.) How to get it
- Per FTP from Aminet, game/think
- Fish CD's
4.) Installation
Unpack the archive to RAM: and run the installer script: It will
install everything in one subdirectory "GNU Chess".
Install AmyBoard (has its own installation script); you are done.
See gnuchess.txt for more explanations on GNU chess.
5.) Distribution
GNU chess is
